Miami Weather
What is the weather like at the moment? We are arriving in Miami next weekend for 10 days. The forecast seem to be thundery with rain and Im thinking about what to pack. Any advice please. We are from England so temp above 20 degrees is hot for us!
Great question. For the next 10 days in Miami Beach, the forecast shows a mix of sun, clouds, and some rain — including a few thunderstorms. Temperatures will mostly be in the high 70s °F to low 80s °F (around 24–28 °C), which for you (from England) might feel quite warm, especially on the higher end.
Here’s a breakdown of what to expect and tips on what to pack:
- Warm and humid: Many days will be hot and humid, especially when the sun is out and after rain. A temperature of ~28 °C is pretty typical for Miami this time of year.
- Rain and thunderstorms: There are a few forecasted showers and thundershowers scattered through the period, particularly around mid-week. Some could be quite brief and heavy, which is common in tropical climates.
- Wind and changing conditions: There’s a prediction of windy, less humid weather toward the weekend, which may feel more comfortable. Cloud cover will vary, so some days may feel less like typical hot Florida summer heat.
What to pack (especially coming from a cooler climate):
- Lightweight, breathable clothing: Think cotton or moisture-wicking fabrics — t-shirts, shorts, and dresses.
- A rain jacket or compact waterproof layer: Since thunderstorms are likely, a lightweight waterproof jacket or poncho will be very useful.
- Umbrella: A small, travel umbrella could come in handy for sudden downpours.
- Comfortable walking shoes: Sandals or trainers that dry quickly are great for both beach and city walking.
- Sun protection: Wide-brim hat or cap, sunglasses, and high-SPF sunscreen — the sun can be strong, and you’ll want to protect yourself.
- Swimwear: Even with some rain, there will likely be opportunities to enjoy the beach or pool, so pack at least one swimsuit.
- An extra layer for the evenings: While not cold, nights may feel a little cooler, especially when it’s windy or cloudy — a light cardigan or long-sleeved shirt is good to have.
Tips for your trip:
- Plan outdoor activities for the mornings or early afternoons, when the sun is out but the rain hasn’t rolled in yet.
- Have flexible plans — keep an eye on the weather each day and adjust accordingly. Use rainy times to shop, eat, or relax indoors.
- Make use of beach breaks: After a shower, the air can feel fresher and more comfortable, perfect for a stroll.
Overall, you’ll likely experience a mix of hot, sunny days and a few wet spells. With the right packing and a flexible mindset, you’ll be well-prepared to enjoy Miami Beach during your stay — relaxing on the beach, exploring the city, and taking advantage of both sunshine and occasional rain.
