How many days till Maui???

104 days left for us!! So excited to go FINALLY!!! 44 years old & have never been there!! We leave January 15th for two weeks!!

How exciting — the countdown is officially on! With 104 days to go until your January 15th departure, you’re now close enough to really start imagining those Maui sunsets, warm breezes, and that first moment you step off the plane and smell the plumeria in the air. Your very first trip to Maui at 44 is going to feel incredibly special, especially with a full two weeks to settle in, explore, and not feel rushed.

January is one of the best months to visit Maui. The weather is comfortably warm without being overwhelmingly hot, whales are active just offshore (prime whale-watching season!), and the energy on the island is vibrant but not as hectic as the holiday weeks. Lahaina may still be in recovery and redevelopment, but the surrounding areas, the beaches, and many activities remain fully enjoyable. Staying in West Maui or visiting areas that have reopened will give you a beautiful mix of relaxation and island culture.

With two weeks, you’ll have more than enough time to mix adventure with downtime. Here are some experience ideas to help you get even more excited:

  • Spend a morning or sunset on Kahekili Beach or Airport Beach — calmer vibes and great snorkeling.
  • Take a whale-watching tour from Ma‘alaea Harbor — January guarantees sightings.
  • Drive up to Haleakalā for sunrise or sunset — the views feel otherworldly.
  • Explore ʻIao Valley for a peaceful, lush, easy-to-access nature break.
  • Visit Upcountry Maui (Makawao, Kula) for cooler weather, local shops, and beautiful farm tours.
  • Spend a beach day in Wailea — perfect sand, gentle waves, and excellent walking paths.

And since you have plenty of time before your trip, a few things you can already enjoy during the countdown:

  • Start building a loose itinerary so you don’t have to rush decisions once you arrive.
  • Make reservations for any special tours, snorkel trips, or Haleakalā sunrise spots.
  • Check out local food spots and farmers markets for inspiration (Upcountry Farmers Market is wonderful).
  • Keep an eye on weather and ocean updates as your travel date approaches — January is typically smooth.

The next 104 days are going to fly by faster than you think. Before long, you’ll be dipping your toes in warm Maui water, hearing the waves at night, and wondering why you didn’t come sooner. It’s truly a magical place and two weeks will give you a beautiful, unhurried experience. Enjoy every moment of the anticipation — it’s part of the fun!

You’re going to love Maui. The aloha spirit is real, and your first visit is something you’ll remember forever. The countdown continues!
