Deep in the heart of the Hengduan Mountains of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau lies a time-forgotten secret: Mount Genyen.
Revered by Tibetans as the "Thirteenth Goddess," Japanese explorer Yasushi Nakamura called it a "future climbing paradise," while geographers have given it the even more striking title: the Heart of the Hengduan Mountains.
This is also Ding Zhen’s hometown. I wonder if anyone still remembers Nicholas Tse’s variety show “The Taste of the People” in 2021, which was a hit on various platforms at the time. He and Ding Zhen each had a pony, galloping under the Genyen Snow Mountain, and the freedom and wildness came to them.
Standing at the Tiejiang Mountain Pass at an altitude of 4,770 meters and looking west, the peaks of Genyen are like a giant snow lotus blooming between heaven and earth. The main peak of Genyen in the center is 6,204 meters above sea level and is the third highest peak in Sichuan. Eight radiating gullies stretch out like petals, glaciers hang down, and forests are dark green.
This is not an ordinary hiking trail, but a holy place where nature and faith intertwine.

, is like the pupil of the earth, reflecting the three sacred mountains of Genyen, Cameroon, and Xiaozha. At an altitude of 4,800 meters, the Cognakka Lake is shimmering with blue light and surrounded by prayer flags.

Lenggu Temple houses the "Three Treasures of Genyen" - a doe antler, an inverted conch shell, and the "Heart of Genyen" stone with naturally formed vascular patterns, which bear witness to the thousand-year inheritance of Tibetan Buddhism here.

The Genyen mountain area in summer is the pinnacle of western Sichuan's flower fields, its scale and density are truly breathtaking.
Three-dimensional meadow flower sea: The plateau meadows on the southwestern slopes of Genyen reach peak bloom in mid-to-late July, blanketing several kilometers in yellow and white wildflowers, forming a continuous "flower carpet" that contrasts sharply with the snow-capped mountains and glaciers, reminiscent of a dreamlike scene from a Hayao Miyazaki animation.
Unique flowering ecology: Due to the high altitude (above 4,000 meters), wild flowers such as primroses and meconopsis have extremely strong vitality and bloom in a dense sea of flowers in the cold environment, far exceeding the density of flower fields in other areas of western Sichuan.

The highest elevation gain is 4,550 meters. The overall undulations are minimal, and the route offers moderate intensity, with no camping required. This is a beginner-friendly route.
Rich landscape layers: This is the representative of the Great Hengduan scenery, which combines snow-capped mountains and glaciers, plateau meadows, U-shaped river valleys, secret lakes, and cultural history.
During the hike, we will pass through the Eye of Genyen in the morning mist → the red walls and golden roof of Lenggu Temple → the glacier facing the Hamda Camp → the secret realm of the primitive spruce forest
Immersive Cultural Experience: Visit Ding Zhen's hometown, Ranrikka Village, and savor Tibetan hot pot, butter tea, and leisurely chat in front of the stove, immersing you in the rich Khampa culture.
