11:00

Arrive at Fangjiahetou Village, a thousand-year-old village with quaint old-style houses on both sides of the stone road.

After the whole team gathered and did some warm-up exercises, we started to set off and walked up the ancient trail. At the beginning of the hike, we would pass through the ancient village. There were many fruit and snack stalls, so we could eat while walking. After resupplying, we went up the mountain.

The Taohualing Ancient Trail, one of Ningbo's ten ancient trails, is divided into the Greater and Lesser Taohualing Trails and is a prime spot for viewing peach blossoms in spring. From Hengxi to Sanjieting, the trail weaves through mountain valleys, traversing streams and tranquil bamboo forests. Traveling north to south, the trail leads to Sanjieting, connecting to Hengxi Village and Qinshan Village in Zhenhai and Jinsha Village in Jiangbei. The route, primarily a gravel path, passes by streams, bamboo forests, and tea plantations, offering a variety of mountain scenery. Enjoy the autumn beauty of Taohualing on the Jinsha to Fangjiahetou Tea-Horse Road and the autumn views of the persimmon forests in Fangjiahetou Village.

3:30 PM

Strolling through Fangjiahetou Village, you'll find a picturesque spot at the southern end called Lanyu, formerly known as Xiangyuan. Legend has it that when Qin Shihuang ascended Kuaiji Mountain to offer sacrifices to Yu the Great, he visited Lingxu Mountain and, struck by the captivating beauty of the area, named it after his concubine Lanyu, a name that persists to this day. Upstream along the stream, towering ancient camphor trees stand tall, each over a century old, as well as ginkgo trees over 400 years old and other renowned ancient trees.

Among the largest and best-preserved ancient buildings in Hetou Village is the Qing Dynasty residence known as the "Chief's Residence." This residence, also known as the "Front Three Rooms," is a gem of Hetou Village's architecture, constructed with exquisite materials and featuring intricate carvings. On Taohua Ridge, near the village, a stone inscription of "Namo Amitabha" handwritten by a Tang Dynasty monk can be seen. Hetou Village also boasts other historic buildings, including the Fang Clan Ancestral Hall.

4:00 PM

After arriving at the bus stop, we took a brief rest and replenished our supplies, then got on the bus for the return journey at the appropriate time.

7:30 PM

When we arrived at the departure point in Shanghai, everyone was still reluctant to leave and kissed goodbye with tears in their eyes!

Driving time: Shanghai to Cixi: about 3.5 hours

Fangjiahetou Village: Located in Longshan Town, Cixi City, Ningbo. The rudiments of a village had already taken shape here before the Ming Dynasty. During the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, Zhang Yun, the founder of the Fang family, migrated from Henan Province and settled here. His descendants multiplied, and their reputation grew. The Fang family became a prominent clan in Hetou, and the area gradually became known as Fangjiahetou.
