3-Day Autumn Photography Tour of Longji Rice Terraces | Exploring the World's Original Terraces: A Taste of Scenery and Culture

Day 1 Various places → Guilin → Longji Rice Terraces

All day

Please gather at the exit of Guilin West Railway Station between 12:40-13:00 noon (please do not be late).

After gathering, we'll depart by bus for the Longji Rice Terraces Scenic Area. Known as the "Crown of the World" and a photographer's paradise, the Longji Rice Terraces boast a vast array of terraces, exemplified by the Jinkeng Dazhai and Ping'an Zhuangzhai rice terraces. Upon arrival at the Longji Rice Terraces, we'll transfer to a scenic shuttle bus and stay at Ping'an Village.

In the afternoon, go to the Kowloon Five Tigers Observation Deck to photograph the sunset over the terraced fields

The Nine Dragons and Five Tigers are a must-see photo spot at the Longji Rice Terraces. The nine ridges resemble a swimming dragon, while the five rounded hills resemble crouching tigers. The terraces are clearly tiered, with winding lines like waves, creating a sense of mystery, especially in foggy weather. The evening sun shines on the terraces, revealing their winding curves and breathtaking beauty.

Driving time: 110 km, about 2 hours and 30 minutes

2nd Tianping Village → Tiantou Village

All day

Get up early and go to the Qixingbanyue Observation Deck to photograph the sunrise over the terraced fields

Seven Stars and the Moon is one of the two major viewing platforms at Ping'an Zhuangzhai Rice Terraces and one of its most scenic features. "Seven Stars" refers to the seven small hillocks left behind when the fields were first opened. Like seven twinkling stars, they accompany the silvery paddy fields on the top of the mountain. From afar, they look like seven stars accompanying a bright moon. Some of the terraces crisscross like a maze, winding and tumbling beneath the cliffs, creating a beautiful painting that makes one marvel at the greatness of the working people, who have unknowingly created such a breathtakingly beautiful scene. Check out at noon and proceed to Jinkeng Tiantou Village for check-in.

In the afternoon, go to the Thousand-Layer Ladder Observation Deck to photograph the sunset over the terraced fields

Standing on the observation deck, the layers of terraces look like scales, decorating the continuous and steep Longji Mountain into a vivid and shining dragon. The terrain here is in full view. Dazhai, Xiaozhai, Damaojie and Tiantouzhai among the terraces on the mountain form a terraced group that opens and closes in all directions, forming a terraced world that shows strength and beauty.

Driving distance: about 30 kilometers, about 1 hour

3rd Tianlongji Rice Terraces → Guilin → Various locations ★ Disbandment day

All day

Get up early and go to Xishan Shaole Observation Deck to photograph the sunrise over the terraced fields

Under the morning light, the terraced fields stretch out endlessly, layer upon layer, rising and falling in staggered heights. Each terrace, like a beautiful musical note, punctuates the vibrant sky. Wherever you look, you're greeted by breathtaking natural landscapes! Afterward, you can capture the Yao people's folk customs and life, as well as scenes of labor, in the villages. The Yao villages, with their uniform, corner-shaped houses, blend seamlessly into the mountains, creating a quaint, elegant, and picturesque scene.

Check out at noon and leave Longji Rice Terraces. We will be sent back to Guilin West Station around 3:00 PM, concluding our 3-day photography tour!

Driving distance: about 130 kilometers, about 3 hours

Longji Rice Terraces in Guangxi, with a history of over 2,300 years, are primarily composed of Zhuang and Yao villages. The terraces are neatly arranged, with a rich variety of lines, primarily curved. Curves imbue the landscape with a dynamic beauty, especially the long, wavy lines. Their beauty lies in the changing colors of life throughout the seasons. During the spring plowing season, the fields overflow with water, like strings of silver chains hanging from the mountains. In midsummer, crops burst forth with verdant green, swirling in the wind like waves of green. In autumn, the mountains are bathed in golden light, the terraces resembling golden steps. In midwinter, the terraces are blanketed in snow, resembling a fairytale world carved from ice and jade. The Longji Rice Terraces offer unique charms throughout the year, making each season an ideal time for photography.
