Tap Mun Island + Hoi Ha Wan | 2-Day Hong Kong Summer Island Getaway

Day 1 Sai Kung → Hoi Ha Wan Park → Hostel

13:00

Meet at Sai Kung New Public Pier. Please have lunch in advance. You can have lunch at Sai Kung Market at noon. Sai Kung is the back garden for Hong Kong people to spend their weekends. It is also the location of Sai Kung Pier, where many Hong Kong films were shot.

You can simply have some authentic Hong Kong food, and then go to the seafood market or supermarket to buy ingredients (to prepare for the DIY food at the youth hostel, the cost can be shared, or you can bring your own food).

2:00 PM

After purchasing supplies, take public transportation to Hoi Ha Wan Coastal Park. In the bay of Hoi Ha Wan, carry a kayak and paddle and enjoy the fun of canoeing freely. Friends with good physical strength can slide to the small island to enjoy the uninhabited island and swim in the sea. Hong Kong protects the waters. When the water is clear, you can see the coral reefs and coral fish in the sea. Go ashore in time (fishing and catching marine life are strictly prohibited in Hoi Ha Wan).

6:00 PM

Afterwards, we'll check into the youth hostel and follow the tour leader to turn the ingredients purchased for lunch into delicious dishes. Try to participate!

The evening is a wonderful time for dinner, where we sit together and play various games.

Note: As a coastal city, Hong Kong's weather can be volatile. For safety reasons, hiking activities may be canceled due to typhoons, heavy rain, and other factors. If the activity is canceled due to weather conditions, we will fully refund your payment. However, any consequential losses (including but not limited to airfare, hotel, visa fees, etc.) will be borne by you. Thank you for your understanding.

Day 2 Youth Hostel → Tap Mun Island → Tap Mun Island → Disband at Ma Liu Shui Pier

08:00

Wake up to the sound of waves and make your own breakfast at the hostel

09:00

Take a speedboat to Hong Kong's most beautiful outlying island - Tap Mun Island, and embrace the "Glass Island".

The island is a large green oasis that is breathtakingly beautiful.

The staff led us on a hike around the island, snapping fresh, film-blue photos as we went. Along the vast ocean, we explored the Lv-shaped stacked stones and the Pagoda Gate Cave, and walked along the wooden plank road, where cattle were everywhere. We spread a picnic blanket on the grass, shared a meal, and the sea breeze made us feel wonderful.

12:00

Free lunch, there are also restaurants to choose from at the pier.

1:30 PM

Gather and take the boat back to Ma Liu Shui Pier (about 60 minutes)

3:00 PM

The group will disband at Ma Liu Shui Pier. After disbanding, you can freely choose to take the bus or subway to Hong Kong city for shopping, or take the subway back to Shenzhen Port for customs clearance.

Hiking: The road on Tap Mun Island is flat and the distance is about 3-5 kilometers, suitable for tourists of all ages

Tap Mun Island, also known as "Grass Island," is one of Hong Kong's few tranquil and pristine spots, earning the nickname "Hong Kong's Little Switzerland" and a veritable meadow island. Tap Mun offers stunning sea views, vast grasslands, bizarre rock formations, fishing villages, historic buildings, and a large herd of cattle. Camp at Tap Mun to watch the sunrise, or enjoy a picnic and kite flying on the vast grasslands.

Hoi Ha Wan is one of Hong Kong's oldest marine parks and a government-protected area. Hoi Ha Wan boasts calm waters perfect for kayaking and snorkeling. The clear waters reveal fish and coral reefs. Pak Sha O Youth Hostel, located about a 20-minute stroll along Haixia Road, is nestled among Hoi Ha Wan Marine Park, the Tai Tan Mangrove Forest, and the Litchi Chong Sedimentary Rock Area, resembling a small, isolated manor house with picturesque scenery.
