Lingyan Mountain Night Climb | Cool down, de-stress, and avoid the sun. Don’t let work delay your climb!

Day 1 Suzhou → Lingyan Mountain

All day

19:00-19:15 Gather near Exit 2 of Lingyanshan Station on Metro Line 5, distribute materials and dress up yourself to become a shining night climber in Suzhou!

We officially set off at 7:15 PM, taking a group photo before departure. The usual easy steps became steep slopes and paths filled with wildness. We made our way to Lingyan Temple, where we rested briefly before climbing to the summit of Lingyan Mountain, where we could overlook the city at night. The dazzling lights in the darkness were a truly stunning sight.

After reaching the summit, we descended and continued our journey at the bottom. Some of the climb was steep, so be careful not to slip! Working together, we enjoyed the view from this vantage point, cheering and rejoicing. On a clear day, we sat down to count the shooting stars, the heat of sweat dissipating. The sense of accomplishment from challenging ourselves blended with the coolness on our skin, a gentle breeze creating a truly pleasurable experience. We then began our return journey, passing a quiet, flat forest path where the chirping of cicadas echoed like a forest symphony.

We then ascended the Imperial Road, following the footsteps of Emperor Qianlong. The tourists helped each other and worked together until we reached an open space. We rested briefly, experimented with fluorescent bracelets, glow sticks, and light painting photography, vying to be the most beautiful person on the mountain.

It is estimated that the entire hike will take 2 hours to reach the starting point of this trip.

Around 21:30, the night climb was basically over and we returned to the starting point, ending the trip happily. We each took a bus home. Everyone was reluctant to leave and looked forward to meeting again for the next activity.

Hiking: The loop is 4 kilometers and takes about 2 hours. It is mainly on mountain trails. Please bring a light source for night activities.

Note: This is a new loop. At the end of the hike, those driving can go directly to the starting point to pick up their vehicle. Those taking public transportation can return directly via Metro Line 5.
Note: A light source (headlamp/flashlight) is essential for night hikes. A headlamp is recommended. Please ensure it is fully charged or have spare batteries.

Lingyan Mountain's route is mostly pristine, with numerous climbs and descents, offering a rich variety of terrain and road conditions, which is why it's so fun to hike at night. This is a rare entry-level night hike near Suzhou, and it's even more exciting than a regular hike. Some of the scenery is vastly different from what you'd see during the day, making it a truly enjoyable experience.
