[Hokkaido] Experience being surrounded by stuffed animals [Abashiri City Museum of Local History]

Founded in 1936, this is the oldest museum building in Hokkaido.

The building, which is a nationally registered tangible cultural property, has stained glass windows and is very beautiful when sunlight shines in.

The first floor is themed around the nature of Abashiri City, and is decorated with stuffed animals that live in the sea and mountains. When you line them up next to each other, you can see their actual size, and you'll be amazed at the size of the brown bears and deer, as well as the sea lions, sea lions, and turtles that are over 2 meters long.

The second floor is themed around history and culture, and features maps and Ainu culture, as well as reproductions of products, cityscapes, and the inside of houses from the Taisho and Showa periods, allowing you to experience retro cuteness while learning.

The admission fee is a reasonable 120 yen. Why not visit once?
