The Drift Ice Story train runs along the Sea of ​​Okhotsk

Every year, during drift ice season, the Ryuhyo Iyagi train, which runs along the Sea of ​​Okhotsk coast from Abashiri to Shiretoko-Shari Station, begins its regular service.

I was lucky enough to board this train while traveling in Dodo in early March. Although I didn't have a window seat, the view of the drift ice beyond was breathtaking and beautiful beyond words.

The train sells various souvenirs, and the conductor's stories are also available. At each stop, you can leisurely enjoy the ocean views, making the 840 yen reserved seat ticket well worth it.
