Having just visited the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, this Islamic wonder in Abu Dhabi, opened in 2007 and is one of the largest mosques in the world, seating over 40,000 people. Initiated by the late Sheikh Zayed, the founding father of the nation, it blends Islamic, Byzantine, and Mughal architectural styles, adorned with 80,000 tons of marble and gold leaf.
In 2025, it continues to emphasize cultural inclusion, offering free guided tours. It symbolizes the fusion of peace and art, allowing me to experience the magnificent heritage and modern charm of the Middle East.
🗾Must-See Places
Entering the mosque, I was immediately struck by its 82 domes, the main one towering 32 meters in diameter. The grand hall is covered in the world's largest handmade carpet, woven with intricate patterns. Seven Swarovski crystal chandeliers shimmer like stars, dazzling the eyes. The surrounding reflecting pool reflects the building, casting a golden glow at dusk, creating a truly romantic scene.
The four 107-meter minarets offer a breathtaking view from above. These elements not only expertly showcase Islamic art but also incorporate engaging interactive tours, perfect for in-depth exploration.
🏷️Price per person
Admission is free; simply book online. Guided tours are also free and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Audio guides can be rented for an additional AED 20.
🚐Transportation
From downtown Abu Dhabi, take bus line E100 for a direct ticket price of AED 3 (approximately NT$25).
You can also transfer from the airport to the subway and then take a bus for about an hour.
