Located near the Sudanese border, Abu Simbel is a masterpiece built by Pharaoh Ramses II over 3,000 years ago. The complex consists of two massive temples carved directly into the rock, dedicated to Ramses himself and his beloved queen Nefertari.
🗿 The scale is truly mind-blowing. The seated statues of Ramses at the entrance stand 20 meters high—and that’s just the beginning. Inside, the walls are covered with intricate carvings and ancient hieroglyphs that have stood the test of time.
☀️ What makes it even more special? The temples were moved in the 1960s to save them from flooding caused by the Aswan High Dam. They were dismantled and reassembled piece by piece, an engineering feat almost as impressive as the temples themselves!
