Nezame no Toko in Agematsu Town, Nagano Prefecture, is a famous scenic spot where the granite has been carved by the rapid flow of the Kiso River. Visitors can walk to the edge of the eroded rocks, experiencing the raw power of nature up close, while the emerald green color of the water leaves a lasting impression.
To visit Nezame no Toko, you need to park your car at the parking lot along National Route 19 and descend a steep staircase from the grounds of Rinsenji Temple. Climbing back up takes about 10 minutes. (I've also included a photo overlooking Nezame no Toko from Rinsenji Temple.)
Rinsenji Temple also houses the Benzaiten Shrine, which was established in 1711 under the orders of Yoshimichi Tokugawa, the 4th lord of the Owari Domain. Interestingly, Hello Kitty is also enshrined alongside Benzaiten.
