A Captivating Holiday at OBLU SELECT Lobigili

Where to begin when reviewing OBLU SELECT Lobigili? We’ve enjoyed numerous family holidays， but as we departed Lobigili， my wife remarked， “How can we ever top this trip?” That sums it up perfectly. Arrival & TransfersThe transfer from Malé was smooth and quick. After clearing immigration and customs， we found the Oblu desk and， within 15 minutes， were aboard the speedboat to Lobigili. The ride lasts about 15–20 minutes， making it roughly an hour from plane to arrival on the island. We were warmly welcomed at the jetty and checked in at the relaxed Swing Bar， followed by a brief buggy tour before heading to our rooms. There’s no formal lobby or reception desk—just genuine hospitality. AccommodationOur group of six—my wife， our son and daughter with their partners—booked three SunNest Beach Pool Villas (rooms 110， 111， and 112). Perfectly positioned， they were equally close to both the Swing Bar and Ylang-Ylang restaurant. These tranquil rooms open directly onto the beach， facing the sunset.Why Lobigili? The Lobi Plan.A key reason for choosing Lobigili was its all-inclusive Lobi Plan. Everything’s covered with no confusing upgrade tiers. For every four nights， you receive: • One dinner at the underwater Only BLU restaurant• One dinner at the Gaadiya 17 food truck• One spa treatment• One house reef snorkeling tripEach was a memorable experience， but I’ll leave the surprises for you to discover.Extra ActivitiesWe chose three excursions via the watersports center:• Swimming with stingrays• Swimming with nurse sharks• Swimming with turtles (although no turtles were spotted)These are pricey， but as once-in-a-lifetime experiences， they were worth it. Note: the watersports center operates independently， so prices are set by them. Snorkeling gear， however， is complimentary throughout your stay. Food & Dietary NeedsThe food was outstanding. Our group had diverse dietary needs， including gluten and dairy intolerance， lactose intolerance， vegan， and vegetarian diets. Every meal was catered to with care and flexibility—our requests were never too much trouble. The all-day dining concept blends buffet with live stations. • Breakfast and lunch: Salads， soups， breads， and desserts are buffet-style. Hot items are made-to-order and delivered to you.• Dinner: A menu is provided and the buffet remains open. • Menus change daily， and the variety kept us satisfied over 12 nights.• Tuesdays feature additional live cooking stations.The best steak and lamb chops I’ve ever had—perfectly cooked.Service & PeopleThe island is stunning and the facilities are superb， but it’s the people that elevate Lobigili. Our final days were clear and calm， though the first week was windy—nothing to halt activities. The UV is intense， so apply sunscreen regardless of cloud cover. Concern about June weather was quickly dispelled.
