[Ako] JR Banshu Ako Station, the home of Chushingura

This station is the gateway to Ako, famous for the story of Chushingura. From Tsuruga Station, the starting and ending station for the special rapid service, to Banshu Ako Station, you can enjoy the longest train journey in Japan, covering a distance of 275.5 km. At Banshu Ako Station, you'll be greeted by Asano Takumi no Kami's death poem, a bronze statue of Oishi Kuranosuke, and a sugoroku game featuring the Ako Gishi, allowing you to experience the world of Chushingura. Banshu Ako, the town that produced Japan's number one salt, is also registered as a Japanese Cultural Heritage site. There is also a rest area with a wisteria trellis next to the Citizens' Charter.
