Stedelijk Museum stands out as a top destination for modern art enthusiasts in Amsterdam. Situated in a stunning 19th-century edifice, the museum resides on Museum Square, near the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum. The Stedelijk boasts a collection of 90,000 items, with key highlights like Vincent van Gogh's La Berceuse, The Parakeet and the Mermaid by Henri Matisse, and Kazimir Malevich's Woodcutter. It also showcases works from renowned artists including Paul Cezanne, Pablo Picasso, Robert Delaunay, and Piet Mondrian. Personally, I was captivated by the Clamdigger sculpture by William de Kooning, which came as a pleasant surprise since I'm generally not a fan of his creations. Visiting Stedelijk is certainly worthwhile, though it’s important to note the €22.50 price for an adult ticket. For modern art lovers, this cost is easy to validate as you'll likely spend a couple of hours here. If modern art is not your passion, consider the I amsterdam card for free entry, providing access to other attractions that might suit your tastes better.
