Antalya's Old Town (Kaleiçi) is a captivating historic district where the past and present coexist. Walking along its narrow stone-paved alleys, you can see buildings that blend traces of ancient Roman times with Ottoman architectural styles, making you feel as if you're walking back in time.
The white walls, red roofs, and blooming flowers everywhere create a picturesque scene. There are many small shops, cafes, and handicraft stores, allowing you to naturally enjoy shopping and sightseeing as you stroll. Particularly, Hadrian's Gate, a relic over 2,000 years old, stood at the end of one alley, symbolizing the Old Town.
Heading down towards the harbor, you'll find a viewpoint offering a panoramic view of the blue sea and yachts. Sipping a cup of coffee there while gazing at the sea was truly relaxing. However, the streets are like a maze, so it's a good idea for first-time visitors to use a map app. Still, getting lost felt like part of the adventure, as every alley was so charming.
Antalya Old Town is a place where the breath of history and the leisure of the Mediterranean coexist. It's not extravagant, but the tranquility and warm atmosphere lingered in my memory for a long time. I recommend spending a day here during your trip, walking slowly and forgetting about time.
