Asahiyama Zoo, Hokkaido

#zoo #100 ways to travel
Hokkaido is cold in winter, but luckily the weather was getting better when we arrived in Asahikawa that day. The sun came out and the outdoor temperature was -6 degrees Celsius. There was no wind, so it was not as cold as I imagined. The entire zoo is very large and divided into many areas. I found that the designs of their animals' homes are so luxurious, fun and interesting. The animals can climb, exercise and play. Almost every animal has indoor and outdoor areas, but because it is too cold outdoors, the animals all hide indoors.

Asahiyama Zoo is not really small. We spent about three hours there and felt that we had not finished the whole thing. We saw many animals, including raccoons, giraffes, penguins, monkeys, owls, tigers, Yezo deer, etc. We really saw a lot of animals, and some indoor areas also have some interactive billboard games for children to play, which is really nice. The zoo is really fun to visit. Of course, the most famous is the Penguin Parade, which takes place once in the morning and once in the afternoon every day. We didn’t have time to join the parade when we first entered the park in the morning. We visited the entire park first and just had time to join the afternoon session. It was so fun to see the penguin parade up close. The penguins were so cute as they marched along the parade route❤️
