Transportation Tips: After arriving at Asahikawa Airport, you can take bus No. 78 (two departures per day at 09:55/11:45) directly to Asahikawa Zoo. Most tourists arrive at JR Asahikawa Station from JR Sapporo, and then take bus No. 41 or 47 directly to Asahikawa Zoo.

This is my second time in Asahikawa. The last time I came was in February when it was snowing heavily. Today was a sunny day, so I came to Asahikawa Zoo again. At Asahiyama Zoo, you can see polar bears, Arctic foxes, penguins, seals, and other polar animals without any glass blocking them. What’s special is that the zoo uses “behavioral exhibitions” to show the lives of animals. For example, you can see polar bears swimming and playing underwater from a close distance through an underwater tunnel. They also designed underwater passages for seals so that visitors can witness their cute appearance of moving up and down. Of course, the penguin parade is the most popular activity. Watching the penguins walking with their heads shaking, all your worries are thrown behind you.
