A review of a ryokan with traditional Japanese charm and private hot springs

I visited Atami Sekitei, a traditional ryokan in Atami, Japan.

The garden, Japanese architecture, and delicate service were impressive.

Good points
- I could really feel the traditional atmosphere with the beautiful 100-year-old stone garden and the ‘Sukiya’-style guest rooms.
- There was a private open-air bath, so I could enjoy the hot springs while maintaining privacy.
- Authentic Japanese kaiseki cuisine was provided, so the meal times were very satisfying.
- The staff were kind and attentive, so I had a pleasant stay.

Disappointing points
- It was inconvenient to go if you don’t rent a car
- It felt a little expensive compared to similar ryokans..
