Mt. Eden, or Maungawhau in MÄori, is the highest natural point in Auckland, New Zealand, standing at 196 meters (643 feet) above sea level. It's an ancient dormant volcano that last erupted over 15,000 years ago, and today it offers visitors a unique combination of natural beauty, panoramic views, and deep cultural significance.
From the top, you get 360° panoramic views of Auckland. The crater, known as Te Ipu-a-Mataaho, is about 50 meters deep and considered sacred in MÄori tradition. Climbing into the crater is discouraged out of respect for its cultural importance.
