Avebury

#uktrip Avebury is an incredible place. I spent a day exploring it's various landmarks. Truly magical. And there is still so much in the area I have yet to see. Of course the big draw is the gigantic stone circle. The largest of it's kind.

It's a rather surreal experience with the village and a rather busy road passing right through the central and grand parts of the circle. The huge ditch dug surrounds the village and it's circle. Inside is a marvellous little church. And the museum and restaurants.

But don't miss the other sites. There are so many other ancient sites nearby. The avenue of stones leading to "the sanctuary". The impressive Silbury Hill. And my favorite, West Kennet long barrow. (not to mention the tonnes of other barrows all in a short walk around)

Still so muxh I want to learn about the history here. Highly recommend this stop
