Built in 1891, Kek Lok Si is strategically located on the sprawling Crane Hill in Ayer Itam, Penang. It is also known as the jewel in the crown of heritage temples in Malaysia, and has been identified as one of the largest and finest temple complexes in Southeast Asia.
Take a slow ascending walking pathway that leads to the Tortoise Liberation Pond where you can buy convolvulus and feed the tortoises, and then it's onwards to the main attraction of the Temple.
Kek Lok Si Temple houses the world's largest and tallest statue of Goddess Kuan Yin and a seven-story main pagoda called Ban Po Thar (万佛塔) because of its appearance which displays 10,000 Buddha images . What a sight to behold !
Afte this take a panoramic view of the surrounding hills as well as Penang from the top before heading back down xoxo.
