Endless Windmills in Inner Mongolia China

Exploring 灯笼河草原 (Lantern River Grassland) 🇨🇳
I planned our Inner Mongolia trip mostly based on vague info I found on Google — so to make sure I don’t accidentally drive into Outer Mongolia, I hired a local driver 😅
After breakfast at Longzhi Hotel, our driver picked us up and we began our road trip into the wild — destination: 灯笼河草原 (Denglonghe Grassland).
And wow… this place is unreal. ✨
💨 The first thing that amazed me was the endless field of giant windmills spinning across the horizon. As someone from Malaysia (where strong winds are rare), seeing hundreds of turbines in one place felt surreal.
🍂 We came during late autumn, when the grassland turns warm shades of orange and brown — the perfect dreamy backdrop for the white windmills.
🚙 Since it’s off-season, we were literally the only people there. Just us, the wind, and the sound of nature. It felt peaceful and almost otherworldly.
This was our first real taste of Inner Mongolia’s raw beauty, and I was already hooked. We spent some quiet time here before continuing further into the grasslands so stay tuned for the next part of our journey!
Travel Tips:
🧥 Late autumn is freezing — wear layers and a windproof jacket.
🥶 Off-season = fewer shops, so stock up in Chifeng before heading out.
🐄 Drive carefully, sheep and cows sometimes wander onto the road.
🚁 Bring a drone if you can; the aerial view here is next-level breathtaking.
