When you walk into the depths of this mountain and see the magnificent building located halfway up the mountain, you will be instantly shocked by the scene before your eyes. It is hard to imagine that in this sparsely populated plateau mountain, there is a complex of buildings of such a scale. It shocks us and makes us stand in awe.
This is Kato Monastery, the ancestral temple of the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism.
Gaden Monastery is located deep in the mountains, surrounded by mountains and shrouded in clouds and mist, like a fairyland.
Gaden Monastery is one of the six major monasteries of the Nyingma School (Red Sect) of Tibetan Buddhism in China. The temple has tall halls and buildings, housing the "Kadam" gilded bronze pagoda with treasures bestowed by the court. There are more than 140 temples in total, including those in Tibet, Qinghai, Yunnan, Mongolia, India, and Bhutan.
Gaden Monastery, also translated as Gato Monastery, is fully known as "Gaden Dorje Dan". "Dorje Dan" means "Vajra Seat", which reflects its religious status and sacred majesty.
Gaden Monastery was first built in 1159 AD, the third Earth Rabbit Year in the Tibetan calendar, by the eminent monk Ka Dangba Dexi of the Nyingma school. Kathok Monastery has a history of more than 860 years and has witnessed the succession of 84 generations of abbots.
All over the world.
Gaden Monastery is located in the Jinsha River Basin of the western Sichuan Plateau, in the Duonian Valley of Bailonggou in Hepo District, Baiyu County.
