When you come to Bali, besides the sunshine, beaches, and waves, the most coveted sight is undoubtedly the lush green Ubud Rice Terraces. This landscape, woven from layers of rice paddies, not only showcases the essence of Bali’s agricultural culture but also makes you feel as if you’ve stepped into a vivid painting. This trip allowed me to deeply experience the tranquility of the land among the terraces and also challenged me with Bali’s most iconic extreme experience—the jungle swing. From high above, overlooking this green paradise, I felt the rush of freedom blowing in my face.
🌿 Exploring the Ubud Rice Terraces—Nature’s Masterpiece
Early in the morning, I set off from Ubud town and followed winding mountain roads to the famous Tegalalang Rice Terraces. This is one of Ubud’s most representative terraces, known for its layered, curved rice fields that look like carefully carved green steps from afar. Sunlight poured over the emerald paddies, and a gentle breeze rustled the rice stalks, creating a peaceful and dreamlike scene.
Walking into the terraces, narrow dirt paths meandered through the lush green fields. Every step brought the scent of the earth. Local farmers were busy working, barefoot on the ridges, sweating yet smiling with genuine warmth. This scene revealed the purest side of Bali.
The view of the terraces changed with every step. Standing high above and looking down, the land stacked in layers, blending with distant palm trees, blue skies, and white clouds, forming a richly textured rural landscape.
🍃 Enjoying Leisure Time Among the Terraces
After walking along the terrace paths for a while, I found a coffee shop overlooking the fields. Most of the coffee here is locally grown, especially the famous Luwak Coffee, a must-try for many travelers visiting Bali. I ordered a chilled Balinese coffee, sat on a bamboo chair, and gazed at the magnificent rural scenery before me. Time seemed to slow down.
At that moment, all that could be heard was the rustling of the breeze through the rice paddies and the occasional bird call from afar. This tranquility allowed me to fully immerse myself in nature and feel completely relaxed.
🌈 High-Altitude Challenge—Ubud Swing (Bali Swing)
When visiting the Ubud Rice Terraces, besides admiring the scenery, there’s one thrilling activity you absolutely can’t miss: the famous Bali Jungle Swing. This experience not only lets you overlook the terraces from high above but also gives you a near-flying sensation of freedom.
The swing heights range from 10 meters to 78 meters. Once seated, staff secure your safety harness, and after a countdown, you leap into the air—the whole body is thrown forward with the swing, and the view instantly opens up. The terraces, palm trees, blue sky, and white clouds are all in full view. In that moment, the cool wind hits your face, making the whole world feel light and airy, prompting shouts of amazement and laughter.
This experience transforms the grandeur of the terraces from a static view into a sensory immersion, truly blending you with nature.
💞 Why We Recommend It: A Dreamy Journey Where Terraces Meet the Sky
The Ubud Rice Terraces not only showcase Bali’s natural beauty but also offer a chance to calm your mind and feel connected to the earth and life. The jungle swing adds a thrilling and liberating touch to this stunning scenery.
If you visit Bali, take a stroll through these terraces, enjoy a cup of coffee, and finally challenge yourself with a high-altitude swing. Let yourself be enveloped by this green world and experience the unique charm of Ubud.
