Sun-sun Warung might be the biggest secret warung in Ubud.

Perhaps the word 'warung' (Indonesian for "small cafe/eatery") would be a misnomer for this Ubudian restaurant, due to the spaciousness of its interior befitting a Balinese palace. Despite its central location on Ubud main street, its expansive interior remains a secret until one walks into it, for its resplendent façades are no giveaways to this fact. It has two entrances, three storeys, antique wooden furniture, a sprawling outdoor seating area, two kitchens and two bars, adobe walls decorated with framed paintings, and high thatched ceilings and roofs. Its menu offers a good array of Balinese dishes and drinks - including the warung's renowned 'Nasi Campur Langit' which means 'Mixed Rice from the Sky', blue rice, infused with 'eagle flower' and served with a round of Balinese traditional side dishes served in a wicker basket, lined with banana leaves. Also a specialty of this restaurant is the pay as you wish 'arak' dispenser booth, where you could get a taste of this delectable Balinese liquor. Whether you are looking for a cultural experience, a bite to eat, a drop to drink and/or all of the above in Ubud, Sun-sun Warung definitely tops the list.
