Rulin Road, formerly known as Kexue Road, is the only remaining old street in Anshun City. Built in the Ming Dynasty, this approximately 500- meter-long street is a stone-paved pedestrian street, lined with ancient shops and houses that appear rickety and precarious. The film "So Young" was filmed here.
There are more than 100 typical Jiangnan-style courtyards along Rulin Road . The courtyards are deep and wide, with carved doors and windows, wooden staircases, and corner buildings. Each one reveals exquisite elegance. Among them, the most representative is the Gu Family Former Residence, which not only retains the traditional architectural style, but also perfectly integrates the Gothic arched doors and windows.
While Rulin Road isn't a food street, it's a short stretch of road packed with authentic Anshun delicacies, including duoduo noodles, Chongchong cakes, intestines and wonton noodles, and fried rice porridge. Beneath old-fashioned signs are small, long-established eateries with simple ambiance and authentic flavors. On weekends, the area becomes a bustling market, with crowds sometimes making it difficult to move.
