Lake Bratan Water Temple

The Lake Bratan Water Temple, also known as Pura Ulun Danu Bratan, is located on the shores of Lake Bratan in northern Bali. Built in 1633, this temple combines Hindu and Buddhist architectural styles and serves as a sacred religious site for locals 🙏🏻. Surrounded by stunning lake and mountain scenery, the temple's beauty is enhanced by the gentle mountain breeze and the reflections of light and shadow on the lake, creating a captivating atmosphere. Its unique charm has made it one of Bali's iconic attractions, drawing numerous visitors.

For tourists, the multi-tiered Hindu-style shrines with thatched roofs standing in the lake are a popular spot for photos 📸. These shrines feature a square structure with pagoda-style thatched roofs atop a brick base, showcasing typical Balinese characteristics. The shrines, the lake, and the distant mountain ranges together form a picturesque scene. The temple's entrance gate, known as the 'Good and Evil Gate,' is another Balinese architectural highlight and a favorite photo spot.

On this trip, we rented a car from Nusa Dua in southern Bali to visit the Water Temple, which took about two hours. We also stopped by nearby attractions like the Bali Handara Gate and Ubud Palace. However, the return journey was heavily congested, taking three hours to get back to Nusa Dua.
