⛰️ Handara Golf & Resort Bali — Highland Golf, Mist & Mountain Peace

#hellohalloween

Background
Handara Golf & Resort Bali is a cool-climate mountain retreat located in the northern highlands of Bali, in the Bedugul/Desa Pancasari region, Buleleng. It sits at about 1,100 to 1,500 meters above sea level, surrounded by rainforests, crater lakes (notably Lake Buyan), volcanic peaks, and lush greenery. The resort is anchored by a championship 18-hole, par-72 golf course designed by Peter Thomson along with Michael Wolveridge and Ronald Fream. The property also has various accommodation types: deluxe rooms with golf or garden views, alpine-style chalets and villas, plus amenities for relaxation and nature immersion.

Why It’s Worth Visiting
• The climate is a big draw: cooler mountain air (often ~14-20°C), mist in the mornings, fresh skies — a contrast to coastal Bali’s heat.
• The setting is visually striking: the resort gate (Handara Gate) has become an iconic photo spot, with its Balinese split gateway (candi bentar), framed by mountains and clouds.
• For golfers, the course is very well maintained and challenging, with good greens, scenic holes, practice areas, and pro-shop facilities. Non-golfers can enjoy nature walks, views, peace, gardens, and the general restorative mood of being high up in the hills.
• The resort emphasizes sustainability: native grasses to reduce water use, rainwater harvesting, waste reduction, commitment to supporting the community around it.

My Impression
Visiting Handara Golf & Resort feels like stepping into a cooler, gentler world. The ride up through winding roads, the way mist rolls over green ridges, seeing the Checkered greens from your room balcony — it all slows you down in a satisfying way. There’s beauty in the quiet moments: dawn watching, sunlight spilling through tree canopy, sipping warm tea with mountain air. Even the golf rounds feel more mindful, more scenic. If you want nature, peace, and somewhere to breathe — with a touch of luxury — Handara delivers.
