Learn about Khon, a precious World Heritage
And admire priceless works at the Arts of the Kingdom Museum
Today, we'll take you to Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. We'll explore the country's priceless art at the #Arts of the Kingdom Museum and #Learn about Thai Khon, a precious World Heritage site.
▪️The Arts of the Kingdom Museum showcases important works of art from the craftsmen of the Queen Sirikit Institute, including Thai silk embroidery, beetle wing rooms, silver and gold ware, enamel, gold niello, teak paintings, and Yan Lipao weaving. The museum emphasizes the conservation and continuation of traditional Thai craftsmanship. Located in Ko Kerd Subdistrict, Bang Pa-in District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province,
▪️The Arts of the Kingdom Museum has an admission fee of 150 baht for adults and 75 baht for students aged 60 and over (with ID). It's well worth the visit. Each piece on display at the Arts of the Kingdom Museum is one-of-a-kind, and each piece takes hundreds of craftsmen over a year to create. However, cameras and mobile phones are not permitted inside. Another advantage is that it allows us to fully appreciate the beauty of each piece, witnessing the impeccable attention to detail. (Open Wednesday - Sunday, 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM)
▪️Within the grounds of the Arts and Crafts Museum, another important site worth a visit is the Khon Learning Building. This building showcases the history of Khon, Thailand's prestigious drama, recognized as a World Heritage Site. The exhibits cover everything from its long history to the creation of the costumes and masks, reflecting the meticulous craftsmanship of Thai artisans. A highlight of the Khon exhibition is the beautifully and realistically staged Khon performance by the Support Foundation. This is truly a blessing for Thai people, as Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, has graciously promoted and supported Khon performances in every aspect, preserving this precious national performing art for a long time to come.
