Can someone honestly say they've been to Bangkok without going to the Chatuchak Weekend Market at least once? It's massive. It has everything.
Chatuchak Weekend Market is open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. It is the LARGEST market in Thailand. With over 11,500 vendors, 15,000 stalls spread over 27(!!) huge sections, there is always something for everyone. Each section itself is gigantic - and splits into different alleyways inside, each keeping a hidden secret or good find.
I recommend spending at least 2 to 3 hours here, and pausing for a meal in between. There is no shortage of eateries here, but I had some great Basil Chicken Rice and Beef Soup at Saman Islam, which just happens to be Halal, and right beside the clock tower.
How to get to Chatuchak Weekend Market:
- Take the BTS to Mo Chit BTS Station, it's about a 3-5 minute walk from the station.
Tips:
- Stay hydrated, wear shades, bring water.
- Don't be afraid to bargain. The vendors are not pushy; they're friendly
- Follow the large maps around showing you which section features what items.
Address: 587, 10 Kamphaeng Phet 2 Rd, Khwaeng Chatuchak, Bangkok 10900
