💒 Santa Cruz Church, Kudi Chin, or Santa Cruz Church or Kudi Chin Temple (Santa Cruz Church) is a Roman Catholic church
⛪ Santa Cruz Church is located near the former palace. During the Thonburi period, King Taksin the Great granted land to the Portuguese who joined the battle against the Burmese and won. Portuguese missionaries then built the first church building.
⛪ The church was built in 1916 during the reign of King Rama VI. It is the third building, constructed to replace the old church which was cramped and very dilapidated. It underwent major renovations in 1996.
⛪ The Santa Cruz Church building features Renaissance and Neoclassical architectural styles. Its highlight is the Italian-style dome, resembling the dome of Florence Cathedral or the dome of Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall. Another notable feature is the use of floating columns supporting the curved ceiling, as well as stained glass depicting stories related to Christianity.
