🏘 Wat Khonon was built around 1757 (B.E. 2300) and is believed to be an ancient temple from the late Ayutthaya period, as evidenced by the old ordination hall, which follows the Maha Uth style, and the lacquered Tripitaka cabinet.
🏚 During the reign of King Rama IV, it was mentioned that the abbot of Wat Nang Nong Worawihan, who held the rank of a lower royal monk, was reprimanded and stripped of his title and position as abbot. He then moved to reside at Wat Khonon.
Key attractions and significant features within the temple include:
🏠 The ordination hall, built in 1969 (B.E. 2512), features Thai-style architecture. Both the doors and windows are made from single teakwood pieces, the floor is paved with marble, and the four porch pillars are also made of marble. The pediment of the ordination hall bears the royal initials "Phor Por Ror" (ภปร).
🏚 A raised Thai-style building houses Phra Buddha Maha Parami Phai Ri Pinat as the principal Buddha image, along with various other Buddha statues in different postures, such as Phra Sivali, Phra Pidta Maha Lap, and Phra Pidta Kan Phai.
🛖 The main vihara contains Buddha images in meditation posture, Phra Sangkachai, a footprint of the Buddha, statues of renowned Thai monks, and sculptures of Grandfather Iam, Luang Pu Rod, and Luang Pu Suk.
