Dusit Thani Bangkok — The 23-story luxury hotel, which opened in 1970 and was once Bangkok's tallest building, was demolished, leaving a large construction pit in the middle of Sala Daeng. Dust, the sound of machinery, and workers in reflective vests became the main sights of the intersection.

September 2025
The original site became Dusit Central Park, a luxury shopping mall and towering buildings. Children play around a fountain, young men and women carry bags from supermarkets. But in front of the mall, motorcycle taxis still wait for passengers. City life hasn't changed as quickly as the skyscrapers.

The original Dusit Thani was an early Thai tourism landmark, hosting numerous international guests and events. Its legacy has been replaced by new developments, but the city's sidewalks and everyday life still maintain its own rhythm.
