"Fallen Leaves": A Journey of Isan Leaves into Art Weaving Life and Beliefs by Kwanchanok Wiriyas

This exhibition was inspired by the artist's childhood, growing up surrounded by a connection to nature. The artist chose "leaves," a local Isan material, as the primary material for his work.

In rural Isan life, leaves are not simply natural debris but also medicinal recipes, amulets, and offerings, intertwined with people's lives since prehistoric times. These beliefs permeate every stage of life, from medical treatments to spiritual ceremonies. The exhibition serves as a window into the viewer's wisdom and cultural roots, still cherished.

The artist uses "fallen leaves" to create mixed-media works by embroidering leaves. The traces of time and fragility of the leaves are interwoven with delicate threads, becoming symbols of power, durability, and the exquisiteness of wisdom. Each stitch serves as a reminder of the way of life, beliefs, and the deep relationship between humans and nature.

The exhibition's appeal lies in preserving and reinterpreting Isan beliefs using artistic techniques. Fragile leaves are transformed into narrative spaces, conveying shared experiences and memories. Through embroidery, it serves as a bridge between the past and present.
