It has been determined to be about 5,300 to 5,600 years old. It is the largest and best-preserved Neolithic settlement site discovered in the Chaohu Lake Basin in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River.
Four archaeological excavations have uncovered late Neolithic altars, tombs, ancient wells, and buildings, along with over 1,300 precious artifacts, including jade ritual vessels. The Lingjiatan site, dating back approximately 5,300 years, has yielded artifacts of great significance for the study of the existence of early primitive society in China.
The " Stonehenge " excavated at this site is the only site discovered so far in China from the Neolithic period with megalithic remains. Its construction date is about 1,000 years earlier than Stonehenge in the UK. The " Jade Dragon " unearthed there is called " China's First Dragon " .
