นิทรรศการ "Diversity"

When ceramics, petals, and ecosystems become the language of self-discovery, "Polyculture" is an exhibition that will make you re-question the concept of diversity through fragile yet powerful art by artist Se Oh.
Se Oh, a Korean-American artist who grew up in the southern United States, never stopped questioning "who am I?" His life path weaves with nature, memories, and an attempt to reconnect with his Korean roots. Through his art, he uses materials like porcelain and hanji paper to tell fragile yet strong stories, like the growth of plants facing both growth and decay.
Se Oh's creative approach embodies the poetics of nature. He uses clay and brushes as tools to record emotions. Fingerprints, the transparency of porcelain, and the lines on paper all form a "visual language" that tells stories of impermanence and the beauty of imperfection.
"Polyculture" is inspired by the polycropping system, where multiple crops are grown side by side on the same land, not only to foster natural diversity but also to reflect the harmonious coexistence of people. The exhibition explores the idea that "Diversity is the essence of humanity."
The inspiration also ties in with Japanese concepts like mono no aware ("mono no aware"), which reflects the mourning for impermanence, and wabi-sabi ("wabi-sabi"), which celebrates the beauty in imperfection. Se Oh's work is a poetic expression of the traces of earth, ink, and the touch of hands.
Se Oh's art explores the meaning of living in a diverse and fragmented world. He communicates, "We need to create space for differences to flourish, like plants in a garden." The exhibition "Polyculture" is not just about appreciating the beauty of materials and forms, but also about learning how diverse coexistence enriches life and culture.
