TUBA brings "Day of the Dead" to Bangkok with a fantastical art installation by Thai artist Jeep Kongdechakul, transporting you to a world of color, belief, and Mexican remembrance of the dead. 🌼 💀
"Day of the Dead," or Día de los Muertos, is a traditional Mexican festival held to honor the spirits of the deceased, reuniting the worlds of the living and the dead through rituals, food, flowers, and vibrant art. This festival isn't about mourning, but about celebrating memories, embracing the cycle of life, and expressing love in a beautiful and indescribable way.
The festival is recognized worldwide through numerous films and pop culture media, including Pixar's hit film Coco, which captures this culture with such warmth and poignancy that "Day of the Dead" has become a symbol of a joyful and meaningful celebration of the afterlife.
The TUBA x Jeep Kongdechakul: Day of the Dead project was inspired by Jeep Kongdechakul's book, HANDPICKED, which chronicles her travels through Mexico. Filled with color, culture, and profound beliefs about life and death, TUBA collaborated with artists to transform the paintings and inspiration from the book into a real-life art project, transforming the interior of the restaurant into a "Day of the Dead" world, blending TUBA's signature vintage vibe with the charm of Mexican art.
The event will feature a touch of Mexican festival spirit, including Papel Picado, a traditional Mexican paper-cut art that sways overhead like the wind of life, golden marigolds, believed by Mexicans to be the flower of memory, and fantasy skeletons. Every corner of TUBA is transformed into an art space filled with color and meaning, as if transported into the imagination of the movie Coco, reinterpreted by Thai artists.
Beyond the restaurant's décor, the venue offers many other special touches, including a specially created Day of the Dead themed food and beverage menu. With special activities like a chic photo booth, workshops, and paper-painting sessions,
Come experience the fantasy of Mexico, filled with life, memories, and spirit, at "Day of the Dead." 🌼
