Make merit, worship Buddha | Wat Arun Ratchawararam | Bangkok

Wat Arun Ratchawararam Ratchaworamahawihan is a first-class royal temple.
Built during the Ayutthaya period, it was originally named Wat Makok. In 2310,
King Taksin the Great (King of Thonburi)
traveled by boat from Ayutthaya and arrived at Wat Makok the next morning.
He ordered its renovation and renamed it “Wat Chaeng.”
Later, during the reign of King Rama II, it was renovated and given a new name, “Wat Arun Ratchawararam.” During the Thonburi period, Wat Arun Ratchawararam used to house the Emerald Buddha before it was moved to Wat Phra Kaew. In addition, there are two large stucco giants in front of the arched door of the crown, which are commonly known as the “Wat Chaeng Giants.” Inside Wat Arun Ratchawararam, there are many interesting things, such as the world’s largest prang, which is 33 wah high, decorated with pieces of glazed tiles in various colors. The top of the prang is a naphasula. During the reign of King Rama III, there were four prangs in each direction enshrining the Buddha statues in the postures of birth, preaching the Dhammachakra, enlightenment, and nirvana.
Walking clockwise around the prang three times, walking clockwise (clockwise) for good fortune. There is a chapel enshrining “Phra Phuttha Thammasorn Ratcha Lokthat Dilok”, which King Rama II sculpted himself with his own hands. There is also a chapel with the relics of the Buddha at the top of Phra Phuttha Chomphunuch’s head. There is Phra Arun or Phra Chaeng, which King Rama IV invited from Vientiane.
