Admire the prang of Wat Arun along the Chao Phraya River.

📍..Wat Arun Ratchawararam Ratchaworamahawihan, also known as Wat Chaeng, is an ancient temple dating back to the Ayutthaya period. Originally named Wat Makok Nok, it is one of the most important temples in Bangkok. Located on Wang Derm Road, Wat Arun Subdistrict, Bangkok Yai District, Bangkok, it borders the Chao Phraya River.

🗒️..During the reign of King Taksin the Great, Wat Chaeng was designated a royal temple and also houses the Emerald Buddha, brought from Vientiane.

📸..King Phutthaloetla Naphalai (Rama II) ordered it to be cast and installed as the principal Buddha image in the ordination hall. He then bestowed the new temple the name Wat Arun Ratchatharam.

📒..During the reign of King Rama III, the construction of the large prang was completed, continuing the work of King Rama II. It was completed during the reign of King Rama IV, and the temple's name was changed to Wat Arun Ratchawararam

🚌..How to get there: Take a ferry across from Tha Tien Pier or take a BMTA bus.

🎫..Admission: Free for Thais, 200 baht for foreigners.

🗓️..Open daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
