Visiting the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, Spain

The Palau de la Música Catalana is a must-see spot in Barcelona, renowned as a masterpiece of Modernisme architecture!

I booked a self-guided tour, which allowed me to take my time and fully appreciate the opulent—perhaps even slightly over-the-top—interior decorations. Instead of paper pamphlets, you scan a QR code for information. The space, filled with vibrant colors and intricate designs, offers a unique charm distinct from Gaudí's architecture.

Every 30 minutes or so, you can enjoy an automatic performance of the pipe organ. (It seems to coincide with the guided tours, so you get to enjoy it as a bonus. Be sure to listen and savor the experience!) The acoustics and grandeur of the music hall provided an unparalleled experience.

Before or after your visit, I highly recommend stopping by Jon Cake, just a 2-3 minute walk away, to try authentic Basque cheesecake! They offer a variety of flavors such as classic, brie cheese, pistachio, gorgonzola, and salted caramel. I tried the classic flavor, and it was incredibly smooth, creamy, and not overly sweet—a truly delightful cheesecake! Depending on where you cut it, you might notice that, unlike Japanese Basque cheesecakes, the surface is not charred at all, which was quite surprising 🫨 lol. Note that it’s a takeout-only shop ⚠️
