Bcharre (also spelled Bsharri or Bcharreh) is a picturesque mountain town in northern Lebanon, renowned for its rich cultural heritage, stunning natural landscapes, and historical significance.

Situated in the Qadisha Valley within the Bsharri District of the North Governorate, Bcharre lies at elevations ranging from approximately 1,100 to 3,088 meters above sea level. The town is nestled amidst the Lebanese mountains, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding terrain.

Bcharre has an estimated population of around 20,000 residents.  The town is predominantly inhabited by Maronite Christians, reflecting its deep-rooted religious and cultural traditions.

	•	Ancient Roots: The area around Bcharre has been inhabited since ancient times, with evidence of human settlement dating back to the Phoenician period, around 1200 BC.  
	•	Religious Heritage: Bcharre is home to some of the most ancient Christian monastic communities in the Middle East. The Qadisha Valley, also known as the “Holy Valley,” has served as a refuge for Christian monastic communities for centuries.   
	•	Khalil Gibran: The town is the birthplace of the renowned Lebanese-American poet and artist Khalil Gibran. The Gibran Museum in Bcharre houses many of his personal belongings, manuscripts, and artworks.
