
Located in the Taimu Mountain Scenic Area, a National 5A-level scenic spot and a World Geopark, the Taimu Mountain Paleontological Fossil Park is the first and most comprehensive fossil museum in Fujian Province. Focusing on prehistoric ecology, the park systematically recreates the emergence, evolution, extinction, and survival of organisms throughout various geological eras since the Earth's formation 4.6 billion years ago.
The museum displays over 300 rare and exquisite fossil specimens, representing national treasures, including the origin of life since the formation of the earth 4.6 billion years ago - the earliest prokaryotes; the earliest ancient plants, ancient invertebrates and animals; the world's first batch of physical objects that transitioned from "dinosaurs" to "birds"; the earliest primitive bird group, the first flightless "bird"; the world-shaking "haired dinosaurs", flying dinosaurs, and dinosaur-eating mammals; some fish, amphibians and reptiles unique to the world; and extremely rare ichthyosaurs, Confuciusornis, Jin's Jeholotherium, Mammoth, and other national treasures. Among them, 6 are the world's largest. This makes it the first and most comprehensive paleontological fossil museum in our province.
Set against a prehistoric backdrop, the Paleontological Fossil Park systematically recreates the emergence, evolution, extinction, and survival of organisms across various geological eras, beginning with the formation of Earth's earliest microbial ecosystems. Visitors can also enjoy a spectacular 5D film. The opening of the Paleontological Fossil Park complements the Taimu Mountain Global Geopark's ecological education offerings, providing visitors with tangible evidence for uncovering nature's unsolved mysteries.
