After a long wait of over six months, it's finally reopening on March 20!
It's hard to believe that such a fairyland-like Grand Canyon is hidden in the suburbs of Beijing. With its steep, jagged peaks and lush vegetation in the valley, every breath is filled with fresh greenery, seemingly washing away the hustle and bustle of city life. Waterfalls and streams intertwine, strange rocks and forests coexist, and canyons and temples echo each other. Hiking through this landscape is a truly rewarding experience.
This place is like a giant, open-air oxygen bar. Looking up at the bright sky above the canyon, one can't help but feel a sense of insignificance in the vastness of the universe, and the mind and body become open and free. These photos were taken in August 2024, and it's no exaggeration to say that this is the ultimate hiking destination in the Beijing suburbs!
📝 Useful tips:
📍 Location: Nanshiyang Grand Canyon Forest Park
📌 Address: Northwest of Matao Village, Yanchi Town, Mentougou District, Beijing
🚇 Transportation: Driving is the most convenient way to get there, about a 2-hour drive from the city center. Parking is CNY 10/day.
💰 Tickets: CNY 85/person, including admission and round-trip shuttle bus.
⏳ Suggested duration: 1 day is ideal, as the scenery along the way is stunning and worth taking your time to appreciate.
🏃 Hiking tips:
▫️ Every step in the canyon reveals a new scene. Over 20 scenic spots, such as Fanchen Valley, Xiaoyao Valley, Qixia Valley, and Xiuzhen Cave, are all masterpieces of nature, offering beautiful views and photo opportunities.
▫️ Pack light for your hike. The temperature difference between the canyon and the city can be significant, and the weather can change quickly, so be sure to dress warmly and take precautions against slipping and rain. Bright-colored clothing will make your photos pop, but remember to protect the environment and take your trash with you.
▫️ The entire trail is 18.8 km long. It's recommended to take the shuttle bus uphill and hike down. If you get tired, there are 9 shuttle bus stops along the way, and you can hop on at any time (the last bus is at 5pm).
▫️ Experience the thrilling high-altitude suspension ladder and via ferrata! Be sure to follow the instructor's guidance and wear a helmet. Other activities, such as ATV off-roading and mountain biking, will also be available soon.
▫️ Enjoy a cup of coffee in a natural cave, experience the unique canyon tea culture, or relax at the campsite and enjoy some leisure time.
▫️ The scenic area is close to Tanzhe Temple and Cuandixia Village. Plan a 2-day weekend trip to combine these attractions for a fulfilling and fun experience.
