A Monastic Marvel

Jerónimos Monastery really is a monastic marvel! A Gothic masterpiece dating from the 1500s. The monastery along with the nearby Belem Tower are UNESCO world Heritage sites. The monastery stonework and the intricate carving is spellbinding and the more you look the more you see! If you’re planning on visiting Lisbon in 2025 the Jerónimos Monastery is a must. I recommend getting to the monastery early as the queues can become very long later in the day. And while you’re in the area visiting the monastery, make sure you take the time to pop into Pastéis de Belém to try their authentic custard tarts. The monastery can be reached easily by public transport from Lisbon city centre.
