Where dreams of great voyages and tranquility reside

In the middle of Lisbon's Belem district,
a huge building made of white limestone stands quietly.
It is the Jeronimos Monastery,
a space that contains both the glory and prayer of the Age of Exploration.

In 1502, King Manuel I of Portugal
commemorated the voyage of Vasco da Gama, who opened the sea route to India,
and began construction of this monastery.

Hundreds of years later,
it has become an architectural work of art and a piece of history in itself.

The magnificently carved doors and pillars,
and the **Manuelino** style that mixes Gothic and Renaissance,
are beautiful as if they are soaring toward the sky.
