Berlin - why this city is my favourite in Europe!

What can I say about Berlin? Regularly, I’m asked what is the best place that I’ve visited? It’s a tough question. There’s so many beautiful and awesome places that I’ve been to, that it’s so hard to choose just one. But as a city destination, Berlin would be right up there near the top of the list. Why?

It is a unique place that pretty much has everything. The history, the architecture, the culture and a pretty awesome lifestyle. It’s a city that doesn’t sleep, but in a cool way. There’s always something new to discover in every nook and cranny within the city.

Berlin has certainly had its lows as well as its highs. The city had to endure the end of World War 2, and the destruction that followed. Afterwards, the city was cruelly split into two, where West Berlin could thrive and East Berlin was left under the influence of the Soviet Union. In 1989, that all changed. A year later, in 1990, the city and country were officially reunified once again.

Everything that Berlin has been through has made it the city that it is today. Make sure you visit the museum quarter whilst in Berlin, and head to the Pergamum Museum to see the Ishtar Gate. For food, currywurst is a must. But you’ve also got to try Burgermeister. A burger chain that has converted some quirky places into Burger joints. Who’d have thought that you can chomp on a burger in a disused public toilets by the side of a motorway!
