The Shirahige Falls after the snow looks more like an old man with white hair and beard.

#Snow-watching #100 ways to travel

We took a self-driving trip to Hokkaido to enjoy the maple leaves. We stayed in a B&B in Kamifurano for one night, and drove to the #ShirahigeWaterfall in #ShiroganeOnsen in Biei Town early the next morning. Maybe the weather was bad the night before, it actually snowed! Both sides of the road were covered with frost and snow, and even the mountaintops in the distance were covered in white. It was so lucky to enjoy both maple leaf viewing and snow viewing at the same time!

The formation of Shirahige Falls is very rare. It is a waterfall formed by groundwater seeping out from natural rocks and flowing into the stream. The Biei River, known as the Blue River, flows under the waterfall. Standing on the white iron bridge and looking down, the blue and white colors complement each other, coupled with the maple leaves gradually turning from yellow to red, and the bright snow that fell last night, the beautiful scenery will make you intoxicated.

In addition to the Shirahige Falls, there is also the famous popular attraction #青池 near Shirogane Onsen. Although the lake is frozen in winter, there is also a special night light show, which is also unique and beautiful in all seasons.
