#Hokkaido is a place that people love and hate. I came here once in winter a few years ago. This time I came to #Biei Shirogane District in September - #Shirahige Falls (白ひげの滝). If I were to choose again, I would prefer Shirahige Falls in winter.

Transportation Guide: Because Shirahige Falls is located in Shirokane, Biei Town, Hokkaido, driving is the most convenient way. There is free parking in the Shirokane Hot Spring area, which is only a 5-minute walk away. From Sapporo, you can take the JR Limited Express Kamui (789-1000 series) to JR Asahikawa Station, then transfer to the Furano Line to Biei Station, and then take the Dohoku Bus Biei-Shirogane Line and get off at "Senior House-Shirogane Onsen".

Shirahige Falls is located in #Shirogane Onsen Township, Biei Town. The waterfall has a drop of 30 meters and an altitude of 600 meters. The waterfall cascades down from the cracks in the rocks, and the water flows like a white beard, hence its name. Because the mineral-rich Io-Kurosawa River converges with the Shirahige Falls and the Biei River below it, the reflection and refraction of sunlight produces the Tiffany blue color of the stream. The entire attraction can be visited for approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour. Shirahige Falls is the source of the Blue Pond, another famous attraction. The deep pool of the waterfall is the same dreamy blue as the Blue Pond, and is loved by everyone.

After arriving at the Platinum Hot Springs area, walk a short distance and you will see a sign next to the iron bridge. I didn’t see it the last time I came here in winter because there was too much snow. When you see the iron bridge, walk up and look under the bridge, you will see the Shirahige Falls. It is a great place to take children or the elderly out for a trip except in winter. Because you can only look down at Shirahige Falls from the iron bridge and cannot get close to the waterfall, this may be safer for nature and tourists, but the iron bridge looks rather ordinary in seasons other than winter, and it feels like a fairyland when you come here in winter.
