The centerpieces include the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum, established in 1908, and the Museum of Modern Art, which opened in 1924. The collections feature classical and modern art (Bacon, Menz, Tàpies), works by Basque artists (Regoyos, Zuloaga, and Etxebarria), as well as a small applied arts exhibition. The exhibits are arranged chronologically, covering the period from the 12th century to the present. The museum houses over 8,000 pieces, including paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, and decorative arts.
